方德万，(Hans J. van de Ven)，荷兰人，1980年毕业于荷兰莱顿大学中文系，入美国哈佛大学师从孔飞力研习中国近代史。1987年获博士学位。随后任教于英国剑桥大学。现为该校第10任汉学教授。

主要著作有《从朋友到同志：中国共产党的初创》（1991年），现研究项目为中国近代海关史。
